Parent's Guide
Rosita's pretty excited about the letter T. She's moving faster than her brain can keep up. She shoves Baby Bear three times to reach the chalkboard. She feels bad and helps him up. His fear isn't going to be fixed with an apology. Telly brings Safety Chickens to teach a lesson. Rosita realizes she needs to find a way to control her energy. This story shows off some executive function. I once broke a glass vase because I ran too fast to show my mom a drawing. It's important to help your child recognize when they're feeling excited or happy. Just remember to pause before you move.
Baby Bear bails on the game. Gordon comes in with a solution. He's not one to avoid punishment. He provides a replacement behavior. He teaches Rosita a song called "Hug Yourself." Rosita crosses her arms and squeezes when she feels the urge to push. This act locks her arms. She's great at burning off energy safely. She just hugs herself instead of hitting her friends while counting triangles. You should give your child specific actions to practice, like putting hands in pockets. Positive substitution gives the brain a clear instruction. Kids learn that they have the power to program their bodies.
Today's key word is respect. Henry Cavill and Elmo stop by the Big Bad Wolf. They explain that respect means treating others with kindness. Safety Chickens really drive home the idea that respect means keeping your friends safe. Rosita learns to appreciate the physical space of Baby Bear. Respect is a physical choice. You should talk about personal space at home. Ask your child how a friend looks when someone gets too close. This links physical actions to emotional impact.
Chris shows the Two Headed Monster how to share a toy car. They avoid a tug of war by taking turns. Waiting is the key to keeping a game going. Safety Chickens sing a song when things get rough. Rules keep the community safe.
A Playground Troll takes over the slide in Abby's Flying Fairy School. Students have to solve riddles to get the equipment back. They find words starting with "S" and fly high to see that the jungle gym is shaped like an octagon. Teamwork and observation won back the playground. Obstacles are like puzzles. When your child's facing a problem, encourage them to think outside the box. Ask how a fairy might look at the situation from a different spot. This helps build confidence and critical thinking skills.
Don't Get Pushy, Street Scenes: Today, Telly, Baby Bear, and Rosita are playing school and Telly is the teacher. Gordon helps them to set up everything and heads off. Telly begins the lesson with the letter T, and the two make the correct sound of it, earning themselves a gold star.
Telly then asks one of his pupils to draw a T on the board and Rosita volunteers and pushes Baby Bear out of the way to get to the board. She then helps Baby Bear up, not knowing, what just got into her. Telly isn’t glad to take away Rosita’s golden star and calls the safety chickens to give them a lesson about safety and respect.
Next, the students have to identify T words. Baby Bear draws a tooth on the board. Rosita approaches the board, but she doesn’t know any t words and after she got fed up with Baby Bears' suggestions, she pushes him down again. Telly then calls the safety chickens again and they do their "Safety Dance".
Telly starts a triangle counting lesson and, once again, Rosita pushes Baby Bear to the ground. Baby Bear has had it with getting pushed and quits the game. They call Gordon over for some help. He tells Rosita, that every time she feels like pushing someone, she should hug herself.
Baby Bear joins the game again and Gordon’s advice helped! Together, they start counting triangles. Sesame Street Episode 4402 street scenes ends.
