There’s a New Count in Town
The Count is excited to show his new friend Charlie the countless things to count on Sesame Street. Charlie claims she's already skilled at counting, but the Count insists that there are unique aspects to count only on this street. They sing a song as they count monsters, Big Bird feathers, worms, Snuffleupagus meals, and more. Alan places a tray of cookies on the table. The Count tells Charlie to count them quickly, as Cookie Monster appears and devours them all after they finish counting. The Count's bats signal that it's lunchtime, and a Honker reminds him of their counting appointment. Unable to be in two places at once, Charlie offers to count with the Honker while the Count goes to his castle.
When the Count returns to Hooper's Store to count beans with Charlie, Alan tells him she has already counted all the beans and practically everything else in the store. Slightly disconcerted, the Count leaves for other counting tasks. At the Bike Shop, Nina says Charlie has already counted the tires and jokingly suggests they call her "Countess Charlie," which doesn't amuse the Count. As he walks away, Alan hears thunder but realizes it isn't the Count's doing. They see Charlie assisting the residents with their counting needs, complete with her own thunder and lightning. Alan jokingly mentions "there's a new Count in town," further disheartening the Count.
Feeling replaced, the Count plans to move to a new street. Alan and Nina attempt to apologize, but they're interrupted when Charlie becomes overwhelmed by the residents' counting requests. Charlie assures the Count she never intended to take his place and that everyone needs him as a counter and a friend. The Count decides to stay and helps Charlie count Oscar's trash bags, as well as everyone else's items. The Count then counts his bats and starts counting the seconds until the viewer's next visit.
