Sesame Street Episode 5002 The Great Sesame Street Cake-Off

The Great Sesame Street Cake-Off

Alan chats with Cookie Monster and Gonger when Elmo and Rosita interrupt with important news - today is Nina's birthday! They decide to bake her a cake, and Grover rushes in, claiming to be a chef. Cookie and Gonger believe they should be the ones to bake it, given their expertise. Alan jokes about a competition brewing, which brings Michael Che into the scene as he hosts "The Great Sesame Cake-Off." Michael assigns Alan to be Grover's teammate, while Elmo and Rosita serve as judges. He gives both teams an hour to create the best cake for Nina.

In the Foodie Truck, Gonger and Cookie have all the necessary ingredients, except for butter, which Cookie confused with floor wax. Gonger slides over to Hooper's Store for more, but Grover needs all the butter for his buttercream frosting. Gonger dashes to the supermarket, while Michael and the judges watch both teams on video feeds. Alan carefully prepares his cake at the store, while Cookie mistakenly believes socks are needed for the recipe. Upon Gonger's return, Cookie tries to put him in the bowl, causing their milk to spill. Frustrated, Cookie breaks down in tears. Gonger helps him calm down and regain confidence, as they start over.

Meanwhile, Alan finishes the cake layers, but Grover accidentally spills the frosting. Time runs out for the teams, and everyone sees the outcome - Alan and Grover have only cake layers, while the Monster Foodies managed to make frosting. Elmo and Rosita declare there shouldn't be a competition at all. The two teams decide to combine their efforts and create one cake for Nina, which she loves. As Elmo, Cookie, and Grover sign off, Cookie devours the last piece of cake.
