Big Bird and Snuffy discover a stage and are announced as hosts for today's Letter of the Day Show. They accidentally break the letter behind the curtains and must rely on the show's guests to provide clues to help them figure out the letter. The guests—a Box, a Ball of Wax, and a Tyrannosaurus-Rex played by Leela—all have words that end with the letter X. They realize the letter of the day is X, and Leela fixes it for them. As Big Bird signs off, he finds the entire alphabet in his mailbox.
