Sesame Street Episode 4195
Elmo Finds a Baby Bird
Season 40 (2009-2010)

In Episode 4195 of Sesame Street, the street scenes focus on Rosita and Elmo playing a rhyming game when they hear a "peep" noise and discover a baby bird. They attempt to communicate with the bird by peeping, thinking it will summon the mother. Chris hears the peeping and investigates, spotting a nest nearby. He believes the baby bird would be safe there, but the bird keeps returning to them.

Rosita suspects the baby bird is hungry, so they try to find bird food. Big Bird passes by and shares his birdseed, which the baby bird devours. However, the baby bird's hunger continues, leading it to eat Leela's sandwich, Kaitlyn's apple, Cookie Monster's cookie, and almost Slimey the worm.

Chris tries to put the bird back by the nest again, but it keeps coming back to them. The baby bird then makes flying motions, which they think means it wants to fly. Rosita and Elmo attempt to fly but without success. As Abby floats by, they realize she can fly and ask her to teach the baby bird how to fly. Abby tries to use magic, but Chris explains that she doesn't need magic since she already has wings. They sing "The Flapping Song" to the baby bird, which helps it learn to fly. The baby bird then flies off on its own.

Chris assures Rosita and Elmo that the baby bird will be fine on its own, but the mother bird appears, thinking Chris is her baby and tries to feed him a worm. The baby bird returns and flies off with its mother, ending the street scenes.

In a Muppets and Celebrity segment, Paul Rudd and Grover explain what "brilliant" means. Following this, Murray announces Abby's Flying Fairy School is coming soon, but first, he plays "Bring Out Your W" with New York residents. An Animation segment shows fireflies leading the way to W words in the forest.

In a Muppets and Animation segment, Abby's Flying Fairy School features the class playing with Niblet, the class pet. The students go on an adventure to retrieve Blogg's wand, which Niblet has stolen. They enter a crayon drawing and use their creativity and teamwork to solve problems and ultimately retrieve the wand and Niblet.

A Muppets segment has Elmo, Telly, Zoe, and Baby Bear preparing to chase a cheese. A sportscaster interviews them about their motivations for chasing the cheese, and they all agree that exercise is fun and makes you healthy and strong. The chase ensues, with the cheese eventually chasing them as well. Elmo invites the sportscaster to join the fun.

Murray announces Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures is coming, but first, he counts 11 of things. A Cartoon segment features 11 water-skiing hippos. In a Muppets and Animation segment, Bert and Ernie's Great Adventures has Secret Agents 00-Bert and 00-Ernie, along with Bernice, parachuting into a Guatemalan jungle to capture the notorious Dr. Bird Whistle, who uses bird calls to capture rare birds for his collection. They set traps and eventually capture Dr. Bird Whistle, who promises to release the birds.

Before "Elmo's World" gets underway, Murray gives a demonstration of over and under. In a Muppets segment, Theater in the Park has Telly starring in a production of "Romeo and Alphabet." A Film segment features a girl narrating her and her friends' visit to Stone Barns Center, where they collect eggs from the chickens and prepare them for scrambled eggs. Lastly, in a Muppets segment, Elmo's World: Birds is featured, exploring the world of birds and their characteristics.
