In Elmo's dream, he was strolling in the park singing "Monster in the Mirror" when he came across a mirror. He carefully examines his reflection and starts singing the "Wubba Wubba" song. Suddenly, Elmo's reflection steps out of the mirror, and now there are two Elmos! Back in reality, Elmo is still upset, so he takes a few more deep breaths before continuing his story.

In the dream, both Elmos realize they are identical in every way. However, Elmo #2 wants to confirm this and asks Elmo #1 some questions. They discover that they are indeed on the same wavelength and decide to see how long and how fast they can play "Wubbawubba Boing Boing" before getting tired. The game exhausts both Elmos, so they take a nap on a park bench.

Elmo continues to share his dream with Luis and Gabi, who find it interesting so far. In the dream, the two Elmos decide to play "Follow the Leader," but each Elmo wants to be the leader. They eventually agree to take turns leading, and Elmo #2 lets Elmo #1 go first. As they play, they pass by Oscar, who is puzzled to see two Elmos.

In the dream, Elmo #1 wants to play something else, but Elmo #2 keeps repeating everything Elmo #1 says. The two Elmos continue playing "Follow the Leader," even though Elmo #1 repeatedly tells Elmo #2 to stop. This explains why Elmo feels angry after having the dream.

To get away from Elmo #2, Elmo #1 runs and hides in the dream. While Elmo #2 searches for him, Elmo #1 watches from his apartment window and comments on how annoying the other Elmo is. Big Bird invites Elmo #1 to play with his new toy airplane, but Elmo #2 shows up first, and Elmo #1 becomes even angrier when he finds Elmo #2 playing with Big Bird.

Back in reality, Elmo warns Luis and Gabi that his dream makes him even angrier later on. Luis advises him to breathe some more. Once he's done, Elmo continues his dream story. In the dream, Big Bird is confused as the two Elmos fight over the airplane. Suddenly, a third Elmo appears and joins the tug-of-war over the toy.

Elmo explains that this is where the dream ended, and he woke up. He realized that having three Elmos was worse than having two. Luis reassures him that he doesn't have to be angry anymore because it was just a dream, and there's only one Elmo. Feeling better, Elmo climbs up on the Fix-It Shop bench to go back to sleep, hoping to re-enter the dream and play with the other two Elmos.

As Elmo falls asleep, he dreams of breaking up the fight between the other two Elmos over the airplane. He reminds them that it's just a dream, and they can all get along and play together, even with Big Bird. Luis and Gabi watch Elmo sleep peacefully and announce the sponsors.
