Hey! Sesame Street News
Big Bird and Abby encounter Chris struggling with a large stack of newspapers as he tries to recycle them. Chris shares the story of his grandfather, a newspaper printer, and explains the various roles involved in creating a newspaper. When Abby and Big Bird express their wish for a Sesame Street newspaper, they decide to create one themselves, calling it "Hey! Sesame Street News." With Abby as the editor and Big Bird as the printer, they enlist Cookie Monster as their journalist. Cookie Monster learns to ask the five Ws – who, what, where, when, and why – to write a news story. In the end, they successfully create their newspaper and encourage the viewers to make their own.
Plan the Play: Elmo replays scenes from the street story, followed by footage of a girl making her own homemade newspaper.
Abby Cadabby leads the gang in a song to introduce the letter of the day - N.
Celebrity: The Two-Headed Monster hires Keegan-Michael Key to watch over the newsstand. He discovers the wonders of newspapers and becomes so engrossed in today's paper, he ignores all his potential customers.
Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck: A boy orders some stir fry with Brussels sprouts, inspired by a recipe found in today's newspaper. The Foodie Truck is out of sprouts, so the monsters drive to the farm to collect some more.
Cookie Monster and friends sing as they wait for the number of the day, which is how many cookies are being baked for him. Today's number is 17.
