Introduction
In the world of Demon Slayer (Kimetsu no Yaiba), the Twelve Kizuki serve as the primary antagonists and represent the pinnacle of demonic power. Each member of the Twelve Kizuki possesses unique abilities, making them formidable adversaries for our heroes. The Twelve Kizuki is divided into two distinct groups: the Upper Ranks and the Lower Ranks. The Upper Ranks, numbering from One to Six, are the most powerful demons in Muzan Kibutsuji's ranks. The Lower Ranks, numbering from One to Six, are less powerful than their Upper Rank counterparts but still present significant challenges to the Demon Slayer Corps.
Members of the Twelve Kizuki
Upper Rank One - Kokushibo: A former demon slayer and the strongest among the Upper Ranks, Kokushibo possesses the Moon Breathing technique. His enigmatic past adds depth to his character.
Upper Rank Two - Doma: Known for his cold-hearted nature, Doma is a powerful demon who uses an ice-based Blood Demon Art. His sadistic tendencies are juxtaposed with his angelic appearance.
Upper Rank Three - Akaza: A skilled martial artist, Akaza uses his unique Blood Demon Art, "Destructive Death: Compass Needle," to overpower opponents.
Upper Rank Four - Hantengu: A manipulative and cunning demon, Hantengu has the ability to split into multiple forms, each with its own unique powers.
Upper Rank Five - Gyokko: Gyokko's aquatic-themed Blood Demon Art allows him to create and control water, making him a dangerous foe. He has sadistic personality.
Upper Rank Six - Daki and Gyutaro: These siblings, who share a single demon body, have distinct abilities. Daki uses her sash to ensnare opponents, while Gyutaro employs a poisonous whip.
Lower Rank One - Enmu: A demon with the ability to manipulate dreams, Enmu creates nightmares to incapacitate his foes.
Lower Ranks Two through Six: Though not as developed as the other members, these demons possess various abilities. They include Rui (Lower Rank Five), who uses threads to control his opponents, and Kamanue (Lower Rank Two), a demon with an affinity for animals.
The Relationship between Muzan Kibutsuji and the Twelve Kizuki
As their leader, Muzan bestows a portion of his blood upon each member, granting them immense power and unique abilities. However, this gift comes with a price: absolute loyalty and obedience to Muzan. Muzan is not above punishing or even killing members of the Twelve Kizuki who fail to meet his expectations or show the slightest hint of insubordination. This is demonstrated when Muzan brutally kills the Lower Ranks One to Four after they fail to achieve their objectives. After the death of Upper Rank Six, Gyutaro, Muzan promotes Kaigaku to the vacant position, demonstrating how the ranks of the Twelve Kizuki can change over time.
